
Bill passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Alamo Nursing Home.
He was born July 31, 1937 in Newberry, the son of Paul and Edith (Puckett) Nickerson. Bill starting working at a lumber mill before transferring to the automotive industry. He also worked at Menasha, Southern States Feed in Kentucky and during his retirement, worked in maintenance at Denway Circle Apartments in Kalamazoo and at the McDonald’s in Allegan.
In his free time Bill loved playing the dulcimer. He was skilled in roller skating and enjoyed skating with his wife. He also liked playing cribbage hunting, fishing and visiting with his friends. Bill was a talented woodworker and could build and fix almost anything. He was a deacon at the Pink Ridge Baptist Church in Kentucky. On June 15, 1957 in Flint, he married Joyce Porter who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Bill (Marge) Nickerson of Otsego, Terry Channells of Allegan and Kevin (Cheryl) Nickerson of Plainwell; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; his first great-great-grandchild due soon and sister-in-law, Linda Porter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Nickerson in 2019; grandson, Caleb Nickerson; his sister and 5 brothers.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, with celebrant, Bill Rose officiating.
