Mr. Stanley “Stan” Burchett passed away peacefully in his home on September 19, 2022.
Stanley was born December 25, 1937 in Delton, MI, the son of Loren and Berniece Burchett. He grew up in Otsego, participated in the band, chorus and sports and graduated from Otsego Public Schools in 1956. On May 31, 1957 he married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Ekema. Stanley enlisted in the Marine Reserve in 1956 until 1962.
Stan loved to go hunting and fishing especially with his grandchildren. Stan had a passion for John Deere tractors and would smile ear to ear when the chance came to get one of this tractors out of the barn. He was a member of the Kalamazoo Antique Tractor and Engine Club.
Stan was an excellent specialty tool maker. Stan and Charlotte started Burchett Quality Tool in their 2 car garage in the early 1980’s. Stan’s idea came after working in the Aerospace industry where he saw a need for custom tooling. We are forever grateful for the legacy of Stan and Char that continues through Burchett Quality Tool.
Stan was a devote Christian man who enjoyed attending church at Twin Lakes Reformed, Second Reformed and At the Master’s Feet. Stan will be remembered for his love for his family, his big smile, his sense of humor and his kind spirit.
Surviving are his children, Cheryl (Len) Myers of Martin, Dennis (Patti) Burchett and Darrell (Lora) Burchett both of Kalamazoo; 7 grandchildren, Aaron (Brooke), Alex (Nikki), Andrew (Lindsey), Molly (Jacob), Kristi (Nick), Kalie (Tyler) and Shay; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Also surviving are his sisters, Sandra Morey and Barbara (Bob) Fuller; sister-in-law, JoAnn Burchett, along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Charoltte; parents; brother, Danny and brother-in-law, Mickey Morey.
The family appreciates caregivers, Kim Long and Connie Rose for the love and excellent care they gave to Stan, and to Centrica caregivers, Stephanie and Terrasita for their kindness and care for Stan.
