Sandra Cornelia

Sandra K. ‘Sandi’ Cornelia passed away peacefully Thursday, January 8, 2015 at her home in Plainwell, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 6, 1952 in Allegan, the daughter of Donald and Sylvia (Ives) McKeown.  For over 30 years she had worked at Parker Hannifin in Otsego. Growing up she enjoyed spending time at the Kalamazoo Speedway. Sandi liked going to the casino, visiting lighthouses, playing bingo, dominos and other games with her friends. Recently she got to enjoy her first motorcycle ride and was able to check that off her bucket list. Most of all Sandi loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her sons, Merritt (fiancée, Tabitha Emmons) Bush III of Allegan and Michael (Stephanie) Bush of Otsego; 6 grandchildren, Michael T. Bush, Mathew A. Bush, Stephen M. Bush, Nathan R. Bush, Dylan R. Bush and Austin R. Emmons; mother, Sylvia McKeown; sister, Judy (John) Stopa; and by Melanie J. Bush, Dennis B. Cornelia, several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Preceding her in death are her father, Donald; and her brother, Robert McKeown. According to her wishes cremation has taken place.

Sandi you will be missed. I have known you since my childhood and I was so in awe of you because you were “older” and I was always treated by you and your family as a family member. I even still call your mom Gramma Sylvia. Even though we hadn’t seen each other in years we kept in contact though facebook. I pray that God comforts your family with peace and serenity. You are with your dad & my dad now; and with God where there are no struggles, no more pain, and only happiness & heath.

It was my honor to have met Sandi-a few years ago.. She was always one of the bright spots in my day, when I was scheduled to go and visit with her. I will miss that glowing smile. May God hold your hand on the journey. And to her family, know that she was loved not only by you, but others also-may you find some peace with this knowledge.

  16. Penny Browning says:

From the 70’s and 80’s at Parker Pumps, where Sandi took this snot nosed kid under her wing and showed her the ropes, to just running into her at the Dollar Tree, Sandi was always the same. Smiling, hard working, welcoming. No strangers in front of her more than 8 seconds! Sandi was a fierce and protective she wolf toward her family. Fiercely . Said it like it was. I so admired her. Will miss you Sandi.
