Vivian Reed

Vivian passed away on May 18, 2024. 

She was born February 12, 1937, the youngest of nine children to Frank and Florence (Maatman) Walters. She attended the Knowles Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Otsego High School in 1954. She kept in touch with her classmates and had monthly luncheons with them. 

Her adult working career was in the secretarial field, and she retired from State Technical Institute and Rehabilitation Center in 1992 as an Office Supervisor. She was an avid knitter, and many newborns went home with a sweater set made by Grandma Viv. She worshipped at At The Master’s Feet and made many friends there. On February 12, 1955, she married Walter Reed who passed away in 2017. 

Surviving are four children, Kathleen (Ronnie) Brock of Plainwell, Karin (Al) Laws of Otsego, Larry (Sherri) Reed of Kalamazoo and Loren (Cynthia) Reed of Manton. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren, Chad (Nancy) Laws, Alex Laws, Mariah (Dustin) Cook, Morgan (Tina) Reed, Marshall (Kaislie Siron) Reed, Whitney Reed and Abbie (Brad) Lietzke; eight great-grandchildren, Haley, Douglas, Dakota, Kayden, Atherton, Anders, Callie and Casey and one great-great-grandchild, Naomi. One sibling survives her, Lou (Ned) Sutherland of Dowagiac, along with many nieces and nephews, mothers of her grandchildren, Diana Reed and Tracy (Rick) Hurdlebrink and her close friend and helpful neighbor, Norm Sweet. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, Marian Stokes, Ethel Sims, Harris Walters, Beatrice Stambaugh, Carl Walters, Francis Walters, infant Katherine, and very dear friend of over 60 years, Betty Powell. 

Friends may visit with Vivian’s family from 4-7 PM, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 23, 2024, at At The Master’s Feet Discipleship Ministry, with Pastor Ray Brown officiating.

 Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Vivian may be made to At The Master’s Feet Discipleship Ministry or to the charity of your choice.
