Sylvia S. Davis

Otsego

Sylvia passed away peacefully at her home in Otsego on September 12, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born on December 11, 1941, in Kalamazoo, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Susan (Cerroni) Christian.

Sylvia graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1959. She began her career at the Kozy Coach as a secretary; while working there she met her husband, Dick. She later worked at the paper mill in Kalamazoo, displaying her dedication and strong work ethic from an early age. She then spent nine and a half years driving a school bus for Martin Public Schools, creating lasting bonds with the children she transported each day. For the majority of her career, she worked at Marshall Plastics in Martin until her retirement.

Sylvia was a woman of many talents and interests. She devoted her time to a variety of hobbies including cross stitch, scrapbooking, ceramics, diamond art, cooking, canning, knitting, reading and playing cards. Sylvia's enthusiasm for life was evident, particularly in her role as a 4-H leader for many years and as the president of the PTA during her children's school years. Above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely. On November 1, 1960, she married the love of her life, Richard Davis who survives.

Also surviving are her children, Vicky Kent, Sheri O'Reilly, Jim Davis, and Julie Kubiak; and her daughter-in-law, Tina Davis; her beloved grandchildren, Angela, Rashell, Cassie, Lucas (Taylor), Chad, Trevor (Beth), Alyssa (Marc), Hailey (Brian), Alex, Mikaela (Christian), Tarin (Randy), and Michaelan (Alec). She also held a special place in her heart for her great-grandchildren, Lauren, Alexis, Maylee, Melodi, Kiya, Aleiya, Rhyleigh, Mariah, Eleece, Rylen, Tristan, Sylvia, Brooks, Gianna, Greyson, Palmer, Hayes, and one due soon. Sylvia is also survived by her sister, Sharon Stewart, as well as her sisters-in-law, Sally Miller, Sharon VanDenBerg, Sandra Lockett, and Pat Pranshka and special dog, Boomer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Richard Davis Jr., daughter-in-law, Val Davis, in-laws Alvin and Ann Davis and Hazel Davis, and brothers-in-law Tom Davis and Bill Davis.

Sylvia was known for her warmth, compassion, and unwavering support of those she loved. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and will forever remain in their hearts.
