Sherry A. Spencer

Otsego

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sherry Ann Spencer (née Peak), at the age of 78, on June 1, 2025, at the home of her daughter in Otsego, MI, surrounded by her entire family. For the past couple of years, Sherry had returned to Oscoda where she resided with her oldest son where she found peace, joy and comfort in close friends and family. After receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis, Sherry bravely chose to allow our father, Jesus, to bring her home, a decision that showed her immense faith and trust in the divine. Her strength and grace through this difficult journey were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Born on August 18, 1946, in Detroit, MI, Sherry was one of five daughters. She later moved to Oscoda, MI, where she raised her five children.

After her years of dedicated motherhood, Sherry went on to pursue her education, earning a degree in Business. She worked at various banks across Michigan, ultimately retiring from the banking industry. Many years of her life were spent in the Chesterfield community, where she cherished the close bond, she shared with her beloved sisters. In retirement, Sherry was truly blessed to spend time living with her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be forever cherished.

Her greatest gift in this world were her five children, 17 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, with whom she was known as Mom, Grams, and Gigi. She was a proud member in her younger years of the long-time Pool League of Oscoda, where she met many lifelong friends. Sherry was also part of a strong online community of prayer warriors, always ready to pray for those in need.

A huge fan of Detroit sports, especially the Red Wings and Detroit Lions, Sherry found joy in following her teams. She also had a deep passion for online gaming, where she was an admin for the Bingo Blitz community. Through this hobby, she met many new friends who shared common interests and stood by each other through both life’s good times and tough times.

Sherry is preceded into Heaven by her father Presley Peak, mother Virginia Peak, uncle Thomas Peak, sisters Jeanette Webb and Susan Dip, and her dear nephew Aaron Boyll.

Sherry is survived by her five children, James Richard Flowers (Julie Lambert) of Oscoda, MI, Beth Ann Gritters (nee Flowers) of Hudson, FL, Melissa Virginia Goldsberry (nee Flowers) (Tim Goldsberry) of Otsego, MI, Susan Rebecca Nicely (nee Flowers) (Dan Nicely) of Clinton, MO and Allen Richard Piechowski of Hudson, FL; 17 grandchildren, Emily Flowers, Ashley Block (Spencer), Nicole Figueroa (Mitchell), Allison Stevens (Chandler), Kassandra Gibson (Hunter), Lindzi Gritters (Kraig), Nathan Jean (Kelsey), Ryan Jean, Derek Hodges (Allison), Trevor Hodges (Mirage), Kaitlyn Hodges, Kayla Goldsberry, Alex Goldsberry (Nikki), Collin Goldsberry (Jade), Matthew Nicely (Hannah), Austin Nicely (Sierra), Ellee Bakshis (nee Piechowski); 8 great-grandchildren, Audrey, Isa, Hudson, Nolan, Miller, Emily, Oliver and Athena along with many loved nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Her final wishes are to be privately celebrated with her immediate family in August.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Hospice, her two favorite charities she supported in her lifetime Pink Hugs (info@pinkhugs.org), or Christian Neighbors (christianeighbors.org).
