Sharon Shattuck

Sharon L. Shattuck ( Pion) of Mission, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at McAllen Heart Hospital in McAllen, Texas, surrounded by family and her close friend Nancy. Sharon was born January 25, 1942, the daughter of Ervin and Frances (Cool) Pion.

 She loved spending time with family and friends. She went to Otsego High School. On June 30, 1960 she married the love of her life, Darrell E. Shattuck. They shared 51 wonderful years traveling, raising a family, and spending time making memories with family. Until his passing in 2011. She was a dedicated employee at Kal-Equip and a passionate volunteer who supported numerous charitable organizations, including Wertz Warriors, Special Olympics awareness efforts, Abate, Forgotten Eagles, and many others. She cherished time spent with family and friends and had a zest for life demonstrated through her many hobbies: mushrooming, karaoke, camping, music and dancing, playing cards, crafting, bingo, and crosswords. She loved spending her summers in Michigan, especially in Alba and Otsego, and winters at Wintergreen Park in Mission, Texas, where she was very active in the community and helped organize many events. Until she made Mission, Texas her permanent home a few years ago.

 Sharon is survived by her grandson Darrell “DJ” (Catie) Shattuck of Cadillac, Michigan; granddaughter Stephanie (Tim) Petrovich of Livonia; great-granddaughters Jackie Petrovich, Kara Shattuck, Izzy Petrovich, and Kaylee Shattuck; siblings Sally Judd and Cheryl Burd; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darrell; sons Ervin “Wally” Shattuck and George Shattuck; siblings Helen Johnson, Wes Pion, Jim Pion, Alice Taylor, Howard Pion, Margaret “Maggie” Powers, Kaye Ramp, and Charles “Butch” Pion; as well as beloved dogs Payne, Foxy, Taz, and Angel. In accordance with Sharon’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Sharon’s warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

 A Private family graveside will be held.
