Ronald L. Powers

Ronald L. Powers, affectionately known as Ron, passed away on July 31, 2025, at the Vibrant Life Assisted Living in Kalamazoo. Born on October 11, 1933, in Plainwell, he was the beloved son of Charles and Evelyn Powers.

As a young man Ron worked at movie theaters in both Otsego and Plainwell. After a few years in construction, Ron dedicated the majority of his working life to Plainwell Paper, where he devoted 40 years of service until his retirement in 2000. On October 7, 1955, he married Pauline Foote who passed away in 2016.

In his free time Ron enjoyed spending time on the water, fishing and boating. He also found joy in golfing and hunting and liked playing the organ and keyboard. He was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan. For many years he spent the winters in Plant City, Florida.

Ron is survived by his loving children: Ron Jr. (Patty) Powers of Allegan, Rick (Cheryl) Powers of Romulus, Robin (Greg) Smith of Florida, and Rhonda (Joe) Lesman of Texas. He was a cherished grandfather, leaving behind 9 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Pauline, as well as his parents and siblings, Chuck Powers and Sharon Fitzpatrick.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. 

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later time.
