Robert L. Walters Sr.

Robert passed away, Friday, April 18, 2025, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. 

He was born December 11, 1940, in Allegan, the son of Earl and Dorothy “Izzy” (Saddler) Walters. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge. He worked for over 30 years at Parker Hannifin until his well-deserved retirement in 2003.

In his free time Bob enjoyed watching baseball and football, going to the casino and traveling, especially to Arkansas and South Carolina to visit with family. Most of all he loved attending his grandchildren’s activities. Bob was a life member of the Otsego VFW Post 3030. In November 1973 he married Dealie Owens who passed away in 2013. 

Surviving are his children, Robert Lee Walter of Otsego and Jessica (Dan) Doornhaag of Plainwell; 9 stepchildren; 2 grandchildren; many step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim Walters and Bonnie Hummel along with several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and siblings, Don, Dick, Ed and Peg. 

Friends may visit with Bob’s family starting at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., with Nyla Merrill officiating. Military Honors by Otsego VFW Post 3030. 

Cremation will follow. 

Burial of ashes will take place at Mountain Home Cemetery at a later time.
