Robert David Hogerwerf, a dedicated servant of God, passed away on November 8, 2025, in Wyoming, Michigan. Bob was born on October 26, 1942, in Grand Rapids MI, the son of Richard and Carolyn (Vogel) Hogerwerf.
A graduate of Wayland Union High School, Bob continued his education at Michigan State University, Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and later earned his Masters of Divinity at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. His dedication to learning and his faith in God’s saving grace, guided him as he became a missionary with Trans World Radio serving in Monte Carlo and South Africa, and later serving with RBM Ministries in Michigan. He dedicated his life to spreading God's Word and serving those in need.
Bob was not only a man of faith, but also a deeply engaged member of his community. He served as a deacon and board member at the First Baptist Church of Otsego, MI, where his contributions were invaluable, and his commitment to the church was unwavering. He also enjoyed singing in the choir, narrating for church cantatas over the years and serving at special events, like the annual Friendship Festival. In addition to his ministry outreach, Bob had a passion for traveling on a budget and listening to big band music, gospel and orchestra tunes with the volume cranked way up for the whole house to hear! He found his greatest joy sharing time with his family.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Phyllis, who stood by his side throughout their life together; his son, Rob (Beth) Hogerwerf of Caledonia, and daughter, Michele (Jeff) Turcotte of Idaho, along with eight grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy of love and faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
