Bob passed away Monday, March 2, 2026, at his home on Pine Lake. He was born in Plainwell on September 13, 1937, the son of Murray and Eleanor (Ludwig) Chamberlin.
Bob was a graduate of Plainwell High School, completing his education in 1955. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, he began his career with his father at Murray Chamberlin & Sons Pontiac, followed by a brief time at Orrin B Hayse in Kalamazoo. However, it was his passion for mechanics that led to almost 50 years at Checker Motors retiring when they closed in 2009. In 1982 he purchased Mar-Bil Marine on Pine Lake, which he owned and operated to this day alongside his beloved wife, Jo.
Bob's interests included woodworking, carpentry, and building. Bob loved tinkering in his garage and could often be found working on cars, planes, and boats. His many talents also included remodeling his home and embarking on numerous travels with Jo in their camper, which created cherished memories.
Bob found immense joy in the outdoors, with memorable fishing trips to Missinaibi Lake in Ontario, Canada and numerous biking adventures across Europe. His enthusiasm for skiing, both at Timber Ridge and out west, added another layer to his vibrant personality.
Bob is survived by his cherished wife of 55 years, Jo (Manning) Chamberlin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pamela (Ron) Strater, Ted (Kristie) Manning, and Cindy (Tom) Routley and his close friend and devoted helper, Tim Wallace. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Murray Franklin Chamberlin Jr. and Portia (Larry) Adams.
Friends may visit with Bob’s family from 3-6 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego.
