Rick Clemens

Rick passed away, Friday, February 2, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family in Cooper Township. 


He was born July 26, 1951, in Kalamazoo, the son of Charles and Dorothy (Carlson) Clemens. As a young boy he lived in Portage and moved to Plainwell as a freshman, where he graduated in 1970. Rick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army serving as a MP at the Pentagon and in Germany. For many years Rick worked at Michigan Bell until his retirement in 2003. 


In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Rick loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He attended all of their school and sporting events which brought him great joy. On June 3, 1988, at the First Congregational Church of Otsego he married Karen Nimtz who survives. 


Also surviving are his daughter, Sara Miller; grandchildren, Taya, Christopher, Madelyn and Jade; brother, Gary (Trace) Clemens; sisters, Sue (Mike)Mansfield, Deb (Mike) Miller and Laura Clemens along with many nieces and nephews. 


He was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Cegee Heldt. 


Friends may visit with Rick’s family from 4-7 PM, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego and starting at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the First Congregational Church of Otsego, until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Todd Meert officiating. 


Burial will take place at 2:00 P.M., at West Cooper Cemetery in Cooper Township. 


Military Honors by Otsego VFW Post #3030. 


Contributions in memory of Rick may be made to the First Congregational Church of Otsego, Christian Neighbors or Centrica Care Navigators.
