Rebecca “Becca” Galloway

Becca Galloway passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 27

th

in the company of her entire family at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. She was born on January 12

th

, 1997 in Grand Rapids, MI, as the daughter of Scott and Tracy (Matuk) Galloway. Becca graduated from Otsego High School in 2015 boasting multiple years on the academic honor roll as well as awards regarding her kindness and love towards others. Becca then attended and was about to begin her final year at Grand Valley State University, double majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology. Following graduation, she had planned on beginning a journey of working at a therapeutic equine riding center and eventually wanted to found and run her own. She had a passion for helping people and her heart desired to help convicts on probation become productive members of society. She also wanted nothing more than to rescue horses from dire situations and help them recover from the sufferings of their previous situations. Her first and strongest love was for horses and it showed in her passion for harness racing first and foremost and was followed by four years of 4-H with her beloved horses Lace and Luke. For the past few months, Becca had the pleasure of working at Hopewell Ranch in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, a Christian-based therapeutic riding center that reaches out to at-risk youth, veterans, and many others with the use of rescued horses, which was everything that she wanted to do with her life. Becca was a beautiful young woman full of kindness, selflessness, and a fire of determination to never stop fighting.

Surviving are her parents; sisters, Brooke and Kendra Galloway; grandparents, George and Joyce Galloway and Dave and Marge Day; many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Dolores Rebecca Galloway.

Friends may visit with Becca’s family from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M., Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Martin Reformed Church with Pastor Mark Heijerman officiating. Burial will follow at the Trowbridge Cemetery in Trowbridge Township.

Contributions in memory of Becca may be made to

Hopewell Ranch

of Mount Pleasant. Messages of condolence may be posted at

Becca was a pure soul, always looking out for everyone else and lending a helping hand.

Becca understood the struggles of illness and surgery and provided my daughter with a shoulder to lean on and the most heartfelt care package I’ve ever seen.

Until we meet again, Becca❤️

My heart goes out to your family. I am so sorry for your loss. What pain hurts worse than the pain of losing someone that you love? Though the pain you’re feeling must seem unbearable, please remember that you are not alone. Psalms 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a help that is readily found in times of distress.” Pray to Him for strength. Weep to Him when there are no words.

She was an excellent student, and a genuine pleasure to have in class. I’m glad I had the chance to get to know her; albeit briefly.

Please accept my deepest condolences and sympathies,

Becca was a beautiful young lady I knew her from Washington St. school. I was pleasantly surprised a while back when she waited on me at Cabelas. She caught me up on what she was doing and some of her plans for the future. She minimized her health issues. She was so excited about working at the horse ranch. She touched every life she came in contact with for the better. She will be deeply missed. May God hold each of you close and give you a peace that passes all understanding.

I met Becca when I was working with her at Cabelas. She was always a quiet soul and friendly. Becca was good at finding specific items I had questions about/knowledgeable about her area in Camo Clothing. At the Thanksgiving or Christmas meal(I forget which) we talked about her plans for the future. She had such a tender heart for others as well as animals. I really admire her kindness and generosity. She will be missed by all her family and friends at Cabelas, I know. When I remember her I will joy in the great times we shared and look to that great day when we meet again. God richly bless Beccas’s family and give grace and the comfort only He can provide at a time like this.

Scott, Tracy, Brooke and Kendra,

My heart is aching for you and I am praying The Lord shelter you in His strong embrace.

Becca imprinted on my heart in elementary school with her strong spirit, positive attitude, and willingness to face whatever life brought her. As a young woman, she grew into beauty personified by adding a great sense of humor to the list. Heaven gained an amazing angel and she will be missed greatly!
