Nellie I. Tripp

Nellie Irene Tripp passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Alamo Cove in Kalamazoo. 

She was born November 26, 1929, in Battle Creek and was raised by her grandmother, Mabel. For over 25 years, Nellie worked at Allegan General Hospital as an admitting clerk until her retirement. 

She was an active member of the Allegan Seventh Day Adventist Church where she served in many leadership positions. In her free time Nellie enjoyed crocheting, gardening, singing hymns and playing the piano and organ. On January 25, 1948, in Grand Rapids, she married Richard Tripp who passed away in 2006.

Surviving are her children, Ronald Tripp of Allegan, Philip Tripp of Portage, Mary Summers of Plainwell, Jonathan Tripp of Allegan and Charles (Karen) Tripp of Allegan; grandchildren, Jim Tripp, Mindy (Kirtis) Carpenter and Scott Tripp; great-grandchildren, Sierra Tripp, Julie, Alec, Joel and Justin Carpenter and Jack Tripp; 2 great-great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Bob and Jim and son-in-law, Dave Summers. 

According to her wishes cremation has taken place. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Mallory Cemetery in Trowbridge Township, with Pastor Dan Rachor officiating. 

In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Nellie may be directed to Wings of Hope Hospice.
