Matthew S. Veldt

Kalamazoo

Matthew “Matt” Veldt, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2025, in Parchment. Born on August 5, 1984, in Kalamazoo, he was the son of John and Lori (Pikkaart) Veldt. Matt graduated from Otsego High School in 2002 and attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. He dedicated himself to a fulfilling career as a longtime employee of IB Painting.

Matt was known for his unwavering love for his family. His wife, Kayleigh, whom he married on August 11, 2012, in Plainwell, was the love of his life. Together, they raised three beautiful daughters—Emory, Liliann, and Karsyn—who were his pride and joy. Matt cherished the moments spent with his family, including magical days up north at the cabin, golfing with his girls, and taking them on four-wheeler rides. He also enjoyed tinkering around in his shop and spending quality time with his dad and cousins.

Matt is survived by his loving wife, Kayleigh; their three daughters, Emory, Liliann, and Karsyn; his parents, John and Lori; brothers, Nathan (Lindsey) Veldt and David (Aimee) Veldt; several beloved nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Lucas Veldt; and in-laws Tom and Amy Block, along with brothers and sisters-in-law Lauren (Mike) Riley, Marquette (Sawyer) Duncan, Savannah (Kyle) Lemmer, Brooklyn (William) Hatfield, and Mackinney Block.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and an infant sister. Matt will be deeply missed by all who knew him, remembered for his kind spirit and the joyful memories he created with his loved ones.

Friends may visit with Matt’s family from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego.

Private family burial will take place at Alamo Center Cemetery.
