Marie passed away, Sunday, May 5, 2024, at her home in Portage. 

She was born April 4, 1938, in Norwich, Connecticut, the daughter of Donald and Agnes (Pepin) Roode. Marie received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Connecticut as well as also having the accreditation of Registered Nurse.

On November 21, 1959, in Griswold, Connecticut, she married Stephen Wayne Tucker. They then moved to Virginia where Tammy was born and then to Wyoming where Steve was born. 

They then moved to Massachusetts, where she worked full-time as a nurse and instructor in Beverly, MA at the Beverly Hospital School of Nursing while her husband completed his seminary schooling. After completion they moved to Saugatuck where Christina was born and then to Colorado where she worked in home health. Finally making their home in Michigan (Otsego and Kalamazoo), 

Marie founded and was the original director of Wings of Hope Hospice. She had a giving heart and belonged to many organizations over the years including The Ladies Library Association in Kalamazoo, The Red Hat Society and was a past president of the Otsego Lions Club. 

In her spare time Marie loved crafting and donated handmade treasures to Operation Christmas Child and to places all over the United States as well as Nepal, Africa and the Philippines. She enjoyed participating in area craft shows and spending the winters in Kauai and Kona, Hawaii with her husband. Marie was a woman of strong faith and had a deep abiding love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 

She is survived by her husband Stephen. Also surviving are her children, Tammy (Brian “Terry”) Walker of Saline, Steve (Christy) Tucker of Indiana and Christina (Andrew) Dalby of Colorado; grandchildren, James, Donna, Kevin, Nate, Jon, Alyssa and Maggie; great-grandchildren, Deacon, Tommy and Audrey; siblings, Shirley, Joe and Nancy along with many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jeannette. 

Friends may visit with Marie’s family starting at noon, Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the First Congregational Church of Otsego, until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Lenny Luchetti officiating.

In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Marie may be made to Elara Caring Hospice
