Marcia A. Scheidt
Marcia passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 at Allegan County Medical Care Community.
She was born December 12, 1940 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Clarence and A. Elizabeth (Clark) Scheidt. Marcia grew up in Richland, Kalamazoo and Portage and moved to Otsego in 2002. She was an LPN at Borgess Hospital, factory worker at Production Plated Plastics in Richland and had various other jobs in and around the Kalamazoo area.
Marcia enjoyed volunteering and was the first recipient of Community Mental Health Services to serve on the Kalamazoo County Human Services Board. She was the Consumer Advocate for mentally and physically challenged adults and served on many committees and task forces. She also volunteered for the Red Cross and Michigan Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Center for Independent Living and various other organizations in the Kalamazoo area.
In her free time Marcia had made many wall hangings for her family and enjoyed crafting, caring for plants and working in her garden. She loved reading all kinds of books and listening to a variety of music. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Otsego.
Surviving are her brothers, Jim Scheidt of Shelbyville and John (Bonnie Kay) Scheidt of Wisconsin; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM., Monday, May 24, 2021 at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Otsego, with a Rosary starting at 10:30 AM., with Rev. Fr. Simon Manjooran officiating.
Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery in Richland.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Marcia may be made to the family to help purchase a grave marker or to Hospice of Holland.
