Lucy M. Simonds

Lucy passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her home in Gobles. 

She was born June 1, 1952, in Paw Paw, Michigan, the daughter of Richard and Velma (Keckler) DeYoung. Lucy enjoyed playing bingo at the VFW, knitting, loved mowing and taking care of her lawn and shucking oysters with pearls on Facebook streams. 

Surviving are her siblings, Margaret “Maggie” (Jimmy) Wright, Denise DeYoung, John DeYoung and Dino DeYoung; many nieces and nephews including special nephews, David Smith and Tiler Ream who helped care for Lucy along with her beloved dog, Maggie Mae. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale Simonds and siblings, Velma “Kay” Fortune, Kenneth Keckler and Richard DeYoungs.

According to her wishes cremation has taken place. 

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 26, 2026, starting at noon, at the Otsego Moose Lodge. 

Burial of ashes will take place at 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 27, 2026 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. 

Contributions in memory of Lucy may be directed to the American Heart Association.
