Larry L. Rutherford

Larry passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Allegan General Hospital.

He was born April 18, 1956 in Kalamazoo, the son of Donald and Frances (Grimes) Rutherford. For over 20 years Larry worked as a welder for Checker Motors. He also worked as a mechanic for Street and Strip in Kalamazoo and Muffler Man in Plainwell.

In his free time Larry enjoyed playing pool, making things for his family out of leather and as a younger man, car racing at Kalamazoo Speedway. Most of all Larry loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Roxanne, children, Vickey (Terry) Payne, Dale (Sara) Holiday, Larry (Denise) Rutherford and Jamie Rutherford; grandchildren, Terry Payne, Thomas Payne, Bethaney Payne, Kaley Bell, Mitch Holiday, Slater Rutherford, Karter Rutherford and a granddaughter on the way; 2 great-grandchildren, Carson Bell and Dawson Payne; his mother; siblings, Kitty Towne, Gary Rutherford, Harry (Carol) Rutherford, Maryann Winn, Mike (Rhonda) Newcastle, Karen (Jerry) Butcher, Diane Newcastle, Sue (John) Bush, Penny (Mark) Griffin, Danny (Iris) Rutherford and June (Wayne) Lester along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother, David Rutherford.

Friends may visit with Larry’s family starting at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego, until the time of the funeral service at 5:00 P.M., with celebrant Bill Rose officiating.

Cremation will follow.

I am deeply sadden to hear about the passing of Larry. He was a very kind man to my husband and I. He helped us out a couple of times and for that, I will be eternally grateful.

My condolences to the family. I knew Larry for a long time through the pool community and had the pleasure of playing with him on my teams. He was a great guy that would do anything he could for anyone. He will be missed… RIH

Deepest condolences to the Rutherfords , Larry as well as a lot of the family have always been extended family to me and my son. My prayers are for the pain in your hearts and my hope is you find comfort in Larry’s pain being at an end . Remember this is not “goodbye” , just see you later .
