Kelsey R. Herbert

Kelsey passed away, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in Murray, Utah. 

She was born on July 22, 1996, in Allegan, Michigan, the daughter of Robert and Angelia (Hammer) Herbert. Kelsey was a 2014 Spring Lake High School graduate and attended Central Michigan University where she majored in Journalism and English. Kelsey enjoyed everything outside, especially hiking, swimming, and spending time at the beach. 

She was a magnificent writer, loved to read, and was an avid cinema lover. Kelsey also loved listening to music, playing board games, puzzling, snuggling with her beloved dog, Bailey, and getting back rubs. She was incredibly intelligent, caring, strong, witty, and “the funniest person you know.” 

She is survived by her spouse, Christian Hannah; parents, Angelia (Hammer) Herbert, Samuel Smith, Melissa Hannah, Stacey Hitsman, and Jason Hannah; siblings, Alishia Herbert, Isiah Herbert, Jessica & Robert Bonnett, Delton Goodson, and Nick Hitsman; nieces and nephews, Kayden, Paisley, and Trenton Bonnett; aunts and uncles, Bobby & Jeannie Hammer, Jan & Tom Rose, Mary & Rob Snow, Patty & Kevin Butcher, and Anthony Smith; cousins, Mike, Ian, Zoey, and Aiden Hammer, Lauren Rose & Will Shear, Maddie Rose, Michael and Jennifer Snow, Justin, Clay, and Oliver Butcher, Sawyer & Kaitlyn Smith; grandparents: Robert Hammer Sr., Joanne Smith, Lamar “Paw” Hartley, Joy & Tex Hitsman. 

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Herbert; grandmother, Sandy Hammer; grandparents, Grace & Lee Herbert; great-grandparents, Everett & Treva Snyder; great-great-grandmother, Wava Kelsey. 

A visitation will be held from 4-6 PM, Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, Michigan. Cremation will follow. A celebration of Kelsey’s life will be held from 1-4 PM, Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Mill Point Park, 102 W. Savage St., Spring Lake.
