Kathleen E. Woodstock

Kathy passed peacefully into the arms of her savior on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Kalamazoo, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 8, 1953, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the daughter of Lawrence and Donadene (Wolfe) Dawson.

For the past 30 years she has operated a cleaning business for clients in Otsego and the greater Kalamazoo area. She was held in high esteem by all she served. To many she was more than a cleaning lady; she was loved as a dear friend.

She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Otsego. She volunteered for many years as a children’s teacher and most recently helped teach a ladies Sunday school class.

Kathy loved spending time at the lakeshore with her daughters, jigsaw puzzles with her cousins, and trips south to visit her siblings. She also enjoyed baking; her fresh fruit pies are legendary. She especially loved “cookie day” with her grandchildren during the holidays.

Kathy’s greatest joy was found in the company of her family. She cherished the time spent with her children, Sarah (Shane) Newcomer and Hannah (Matthew) Davidson, both of Kalamazoo, and her beloved grandchildren, Elena and Clara Newcomer and Adelinn and Griffin Davidson. Also surviving are her siblings: Carol (Tom) Eyles, Janet (Jerry) Wiedenbenner, Walter (Sylvia) Dawson, Margaret (Harold) Baker, and Alice Wunker, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may visit with Kathy’s family from 4-7 PM Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 6, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Otsego, with Pastor Paul Laborde officiating. 

Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery.
