Kathleen M. Macomber passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.
Kathleen was born on April 6, 1949, in Plainwell, Michigan, the daughter of Lawrence and Martha (Shoemaker) Bourdo. She graduated from Homer High School in 1967 and worked as waitress at the Do Drop Inn. Later she worked as an event coordinator at the Holiday Inn in Kalamazoo, Michigan for many years until her retirement in 2008.
In her retirement Kathleen enjoyed working puzzles, was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Kalamazoo and an active member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Orangeville. More than anything Kathleen loved her family and cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. On February 10, 1973, in Albion, Michigan, she married Steven Macomber spending 53 years together.
Also surviving are her children, Kristina Macomber, Michael Macomber, Kenneth (Amanda) Macomber; her grandchildren; siblings, Charlene Kubizna and Colleen (Jim) Vorwald and 2 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Edwin Maurer and brother-in-law, Jack Jubizna.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 5, 2026, at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Orangeville, Michigan, with Father Terry Haughn officiating.
Burial of ashes will take place at Oakhill Cemetery in Orangeville followed by a time of food and fellowship at the Orangeville Township Hall.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Kathleen may be directed to St. Francis Episcopal Church in Orangeville, 11850 9 Mile Road, Shelbyville, MI 49344.
