Helen L. Wallace

Helen passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.

She was born March 23, 1940, in Portland, the daughter of Leonard and Hazel (VanHouten) Brown. Helen worked at Kal-Equip and then at Parker Hannifin for many years until her retirement. Helen was an excellent cook and baker and was well known for her amazing apple pies and homemade pizzas. She loved gardening, especially growing zinnias and taking care of her little dogs Sadie and Bella. On February 4, 1961, in Allegan she married the love of her life, Roland Wallace who passed away in 2010.

Surviving are her children, Brett (Debbie) Wallace and Veronica (Mikell) Eckler; 3 grandchildren, Matthew, Evette and Kyler; 3 great-grandchildren, Navene, Brady and Helena and sister, Neva Wallace.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son Dale Wallace and dog, Sadie.

Friends may meet with Helen’s family from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 28, 2023, with Pastor Ray Brown officiating.

Interment will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego.

Contributions in memory of Helen may be made to

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Helen was a true friend and worked for years at Parker Hannifen . She loved collected Santa’s and other Christmas decorations. She was a great cook and always brought yummy stuff to our pot lucks. I will miss Helen always . She was a dear lady, and loved by many. May God bless her family! Alice Comai

Dear family, I am so sorry to hear about Helen, she was my sister in law, have lots of memories over the years of family get together’s, she always had a smile and laugh that made you laugh too! Love to you all I am sending my prayers for the days ahead. Keep all those memories in your hearts.
