Felix Survilla passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at his home in Allegan at the age of 94.
Born on May 30, 1931, in Chicago to Joseph and Veronika (Zivatkauskas) Survilla, Felix exhibited remarkable talent and determination from an early age. He graduated as the salutatorian of the Otsego High School Class of 1949, where he not only excelled academically but also participated in football, track, and baseball. Felix attended Western Michigan University, under the ROTC program, studying airframe and power plant, aviation, and economics.
Felix proudly served his country for eight years in the Air Force Reserves. While attending WMU he worked as a mechanic at Kal-Aero. He went on to serve as a police officer for the city of Kalamazoo and worked at National Water Lift, where he excelled as a pilot. He spent over 30 years at Borroughs Tool in Kalamazoo, starting as a pilot and working his way up to the role of general manager before retiring in 1995.
Felix was also a man of faith who helped build Trowbridge Methodist Church. He was an active long-time member helping with maintenance and grounds keeping. Known for his love of staying active and being constructive, he enjoyed hobbies like cutting wood and gardening, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and was known for his ability to fix just about anything.
Felix married Harriette Dierolf on August 13, 1956, in Warren. Their union was a source of strength and joy until her passing in 2003. Felix leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Jo Survilla, Kathy (Rodney) Thaxton, and Dennis Survilla; three grandchildren, Aaron Stickney, Josh Thaxton, and Andrea Vetter; and three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Wesley, and Daniel. He is also survived by his cousin, Jim Survilla.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place. Private family burial of ashes will take place at Trowbridge Cemetery.
