Edwin H. Holmes

Edwin “Eddie” Holmes passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Beacon Hospital in Kalamazoo. 

He was born on December 7, 1958, the son of Edwin and Mary (Howe) Holmes. Eddie graduated from Otsego High School in 1977. He worked operating heavy equipment in the area and later moved to Bryan, Texas where he continued working in excavating for over 30 years. 

Eddie moved back to Michigan in early 2020. Eddie loved operating heavy equipment, auto racing and in younger years, enjoyed racing mini champ race cars at Kalamazoo Speedway. Eddie's faith in Jesus was paramount to him. 

Surviving are his mother, Mary Joan; brothers, Bradley (Diane) Holmes of Alamo, Geoffrey Holmes of Alamo and Gregory (Teresa) Holmes of Woodland Park CO along with several nieces and nephews, Jeff (Emily) Terry of Vicksburg, Jennifer (Jeremy) Sonnenberg of Kalamazoo, Denise (Justin) Hart of Lawton, Bradley J (Mary) Holmes of Gobles, Samuel (Val) Holmes of Kalamazoo, Luke Markle of Plainwell, Zachariah Holmes (Jeff Stehlin) of Boston MA, Maxine (David) Rasmussen of Denver, CO, and many great nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father and wife, Betty. 

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. 

A memorial service will be announced at a later time.
