Douglas R. Quick

Doug passed away after an extended illness, Friday, January 3, 2020 at Medilodge in Portage.

He was born August 26, 1942 in Lansing, the son of Harvey and Rosetta (Newburn) Quick. Doug proudly served his country in the U.S Navy. For over 35 years he had worked at Jim Koestner in Plainwell until his retirement.

Doug enjoyed woodcarving, fishing, collecting and restoring automobiles, gardening, cooking and metal detecting. He also liked spending the winters in Florida and was a member of the Otsego Church of God. On April 27, 1985 at the Otsego Church of God he married Mary Alice Porter who survives.

Also surviving are his children, Jeff Quick of Portage and Debra (Bud) Smith of Otsego; 4 grandchildren, Cody Quick, Ryan Quick, Hayden Baker and Zoe Quick; siblings, Vernon, Mike, Dick, Jim, Allen, Ruth and Sally along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may visit with Doug’s family from 4-8 PM, Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the Otsego Church of God.

Cremation will follow.

Burial of ashes will take place at South Martin Cemetery at a later time.

In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Doug may be made to the Otsego Church of God.

Doug’s family would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospice, Medilodge and the VA for their care and support.

Doug was a very valuable employee at Jim Koestner Inc for many years.

But most importantly he was a good person. Even in retirement he was always willing

to help whenever Paul Called. I am sorry for your loss Mary and all Doug ‘s family.
