Dorothy A. Shattuck, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at her home in Allegan. Born on May 21, 1941, in Allegan, she was the cherished daughter of William and Jeanetta (Boerman) VanDerMeer.
Dorothy was a 1958 Otsego High School graduate. She worked at the H.L. Friedlin Company sewing coats in Allegan and dedicated much of her life to helping others, serving as a driver for Meals on Wheels for 18 years.
Dorothy found joy in sewing, solving crossword puzzles, and spending cherished moments visiting with family and friends. On December 14, 1958, in Otsego, she married Richard Shattuck who survives.
Also surviving are her children: Connie Rose of Otsego, Richard Shattuck Jr. of Byron Center and Trudy Martin of Bradley; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Dawn, Janice and Arlene and siblings, Henry, Wilma, Lewis, Goldie and Luella.
Friends may visit with Dorothy’s family starting at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego, until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 P.M., with Pastor Maggie Stoken officiating.
Burial will take place at Miner Cemetery in Watson Township at a later time.
