Dorothy L. Watson

After a peaceful passing at her Lake Doster home, Dot went to be with her loving Lord on Friday, April 10, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene, whom she married on March 30, 1946. The couple enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage together. They proudly raised three sons, Douglas (Sharon) Watson, Kenneth (Gail) Watson and Dennis (Liz) Watson. Dot cherished her six grandchildren, Lori Layman, Jason (Gina) Watson, Scott (Tonia) Watson, Rick Watson, Jessy (Chad) Doxtator and Jenny (Jeff) Doychich along with eleven great-grandchildren.

Dot was a long-time member of the First Congregational Church of Otsego. She actively served on the prayer team, hospitality team, and care and compassion team. She will always be remembered for her famous peanut brittle that she shared with so many. She loved her life traveling with Gene, golfing and playing cards.

A private family graveside service will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.

A celebration of Dot’s life will be held at a later time.

Contributions in memory of Dot may be made to the First Congregational Church of Otsego,

Kindred Hospice

or

Dear Family,

We are so saddened to hear of Dot’s passing. We shall always remember her coming to the Elks for dinner with Gene. She always looked so meticulous and always had a smile for everyone! I called Dot one day to get her peanut brittle recipe and I only make it at Christmas time but I shall cherish it forever! Please know that your mom is now a Special Angel in Heaven watching over you!

Dear Watson Family: I am so sad to read of your Mom’s passing. She was a special lady. Always had a smile and a little

chuckle, even on the golf course when she would have a bad shot, which didn’t happen much. She was fun to play with. It was a pleasure to have known her. Dot is at peace now with God and your Dad by her side.

My heart is broken at the news of Dot’s passing. What a beautiful lady she was, and such a wonderful legacy she leaves behind. Every Sunday in church she gave me a hug and had a kind word to pass on. Her generosity and love will be missed by many. May God embrace her family and friends with comfort and peace. I can picture in my mind Dot’s entrance into her eternal home and our Heavenly Father’s open arms. What a glorious event that must have been. My deepest condolences to the Watson family. May her memories live on in your hearts forever. I truly loved her and will miss her deeply.

Dear Watson Family

So sorry to hear of Dot’s passing. She was such a sweet kind lady.

I probably wouldn’t be here in Michigan, if we had not known Dot and Gene. They helped us get settled here all those years ago.

Now they are at peace,

together again in heaven.

Love Vicki

My heart goes out to Dot’s family upon her passing. Such a lovely Christian lady who had such a compassionate heart. She was always ready to give and receive her hug on Sunday mornings at church. I will always picture in my mind how she would hold her petite little hand in the middle of her forehead and try to tell myself and my twin sister apart. She very seldom got it right, but boy did she try. One of my memories of her was when Pastor Ray challenged the congregation to memorize The Beatitudes and recite them in the front of the sanctuary. Dot made her walk to the front and stood there and recited them needing very little help. I always admired her lover for all her friends and especially her family. Dot you will be missed by so many, but your entry into Heaven to meet our Lord and to reunite with Gene had to be such a glorious homecoming. I loved you very much and will miss you.

Dear Ken & Gail, Doug & Sharon, Dennis & Liz and families,

We want you to know how sad we are in the passing of your mom and grandma. Dot was a beautiful lady with so much warmth and class. She was a sweet presence at our family gatherings for Anna and Ally’s birthdays, sports events, graduations, musicals, etc. She adored her family and friends! She was so full of life and we always looked forward to seeing her. She loved her Jesus and had a contagious faith. What a blessed reunion for her and Gene, dancing in heaven with the heavenly hosts! Our sincere prayers to all of you. Love, John and Diane

Ken and Gail;

You know, your mom had been a “favorite” of mine since the very first week that I visited some four years ago! There was NEVER a Sunday gone by that your mom didn’t push yourself thru to greet me / us from then to the very last Sunday we were in Otsego! What a blessing!

She, along with you guys and many others have been missed. Now, she has lived out her very long life and is home with the master!

I am sure you will miss her very much and so many, many others will too. Her impact has been great.
