Darlene D. Syers passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Monterey Township on November 28, 1931, to Oney and Rachel Roblyer. She received her cosmetology license on April 23, 1951. She did hair for a few years and kept her license up until 2002, when she still did hair out of her home. On October 4, 1952, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegan, she married John Syers. They were happily married for 63 years.
Darlene loved to teach anyone how to knit and crochet. She was very active with 4-H as her children grew up. She was very busy taking care of many children besides her own. She was also very active with her church. She loved to travel to many places with her husband.
Surviving are her children, Mae (Robert) Sousley, Doris Paradine, Mary (Stan) Town, Oney Syers, Glenda Brewster, George (Lisa) Syers and Roy (Gloria) Farnham; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Syers; her parents; sister, Geraldine Farnham; grandson, Justin Syers; granddaughters, Sarha Long and Bobby Long; great-grandsons, Johnathan and Lorenzo Mayfield; son-in-law, Robert Paradine and nieces, Beth Nicholes and Gail (Rex) Morey.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan for taking great care of Darlene.
Friends may visit with Darlene’s family starting at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Peace Lutheran Church of Otsego, until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Nathaniel Timmermann officiating. A luncheon will follow at 357 Garfield St. Otsego.
Cremation will take place and burial of ashes will be held at a later date.
Contributions in memory of Darlene may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church of Otsego or Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan.
