Cheryl Stewart passed away on February 26, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on May 16, 1946, in Saginaw, Michigan, she was the daughter of Russell and Evelyn (La Fleur) Meir. Cheryl was a proud graduate of Western Michigan University. She worked as a District Court Administrator in Battle Creek, where her passion for public service flourished. She then devoted 15 years to the Kalamazoo County 8th District Court, before her retirement in the early 2000s. Her commitment and dedication to her work were a testament to her character and compassion.
Cheryl’s love for adventure and the outdoors led her to become a cherished member of the Otsego Lady Elks, as well as the Lake Doster Golf Course, where she enjoyed golfing since 1992. She created lasting memories on the greens, particularly marked by an unforgettable hole-in-one she achieved on August 8, 1998, at the Garland Golf Resort. Beyond golf, Cheryl found joy in driving her boat, affectionately named "The Herricane", and fishing for salmon and perch, activities that enriched her love for nature.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Gary who she married on October 31, 1992; granddaughter, Kenison Bosma; step-children, Gary Jr. (Anne) Stewart and Ann (Dan) McBee; step-grandchildren Jameson and Halen and daughter-in-law, Cindi Bosma.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her son, Andrew and her sister, Judy.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Contributions in memory of Cheryl may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association. Messages of condolence may be posted at www.WinkelFuneralHome.com.
