Alicia A. Nelson

Kalamazoo

Alicia Ann Nelson went home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2026. She was born on June 2, 1965, in Sacramento, California.

Alicia faithfully served as Co-Pastor alongside her husband, Scott, at New City Church in Kalamazoo. She was known for her deep love for her family, her unwavering commitment to following the Lord, and her selfless leadership within her church and community. Alicia had a rare gift for listening with kindness and compassion, and she made everyone she encountered feel seen, heard, and deeply valued.

As the devoted mother of three boys, Alicia embraced all the joy and chaos of motherhood with remarkable grace and patience. Whether that meant turning a blind eye to her sons’ newly discovered “pets,” listening to endless football debates, or wholeheartedly fostering their individual passions, she delighted in every opportunity to speak encouragement and life into them.

Alicia was a fighter—steadfast in faith, courageous in adversity, and anchored in hope. Her strength was quiet but unshakable, and her life reflected a deep trust in God that inspired all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Scott Nelson; her children, Sam Nelson; David Nelson and his wife, Maddie; and Josiah Nelson and his wife, Claire; her sister, Rhoda Powell; and her brother, Joel Kellett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floy Sue (Coffman) Kellett and Robert Lee Kellett.

A closed-casket visitation for Alicia will be held on Saturday, February 14th, from 1:00–3:00 PM at Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego, Michigan.

A memorial service will follow on Sunday, February 15th, from 3:00–4:00 PM at Resurgence Church in Otsego, with a luncheon immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations toward funeral expenses are appreciated.

Contributions may be made through a GiveSendGo fundraiser established in Alicia’s honor at https://www.givesendgo.com/AliciaNelsonMemorial.
