
Edna passed away, Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Plainwell Pines.
She was born February 16, 1934 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Harley and Ola (Buckmaster) Saxton. Edna enjoyed being active and liked walking, canoeing, hiking, gardening, working in her flower beds and spending time in the woods with her husband.
She loved taking care of her family and was a self-taught cook who kept a spotless house. Edna also taught herself to sew and became a skilled seamstress making clothes for her whole family. She was a member of the Kalamazoo Canoe Club and the Kalamazoo Snowmobile Club. On July 30, 1948 she married John Sweezy who passed away in 1992.
Surviving are her children, John (Luz Del Carmen) Sweezy of Marshall and Kay Watson of Plainwell; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Meyer; sister-in-law, Martha Porter along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, George and Lyman; 2 grandsons and siblings, Stub, Lyman, Alice, Beverly, Sharon and Lorna.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place.
A graveside service and burial of ashes will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. A luncheon will follow at 12:30 P.M. at the Otsego United Methodist Church.
In lieu flowers contributions in memory of Edna may be made to Centrica Care Navigators.

Dearest Ednas family-
I would always enjoy Edna walking through otsego, her and I became pen pals even tho we just lived down the street from each other, her at brookside me on platt st. We also took walks together, she and my great aunt Betty Woodstock were good friends also. She will be missed.
