Harry Waldron

Harry B. Waldron of Allegan, Michigan, went to join our Heavenly Father Monday, February 25, 2013.

He was preceded by the passing of his father Clayton; mother Ethel; sisters, Beatrice, Evelyn and Belva; and brother Clyde.

Harry was born August 5, 1923. He proudly served as a medic during WWII and participated in the Battle of The Bulge. He was a life member of VFW Post 3030 and a member of AMVETS. For 34 years he had been employed at Menasha Corp.

On August 21, 1949 in Allegan he married Helen Kellogg, his wife of 64 years, who survives. Also surviving are his sons, Dennis Sr. and Sally Waldron of Allegan and Greg and Denise Waldron of Fennville; grandsons Dennis Jr. and Matt; granddaughter Ginger; and great grandson Heath; sister Harriet Creech of Alamo; as well as many nieces and nephews, all whom he loved dearly. Harry and Helen loved and were strongly supported by their church family at Otsego Methodist Church, especially Pastor Joe, as well as many dear friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be at Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at Otsego Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M. Friday, Pastor Joe Shaler officiating. Burial will follow at Blackman Cemetery, Allegan, with Military Honors by VFW Post #3030 and Michigan National Guard.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Wings of Hope Hospice or Christian Neighbors.

Margaret Holcom

Margaret A. Holcom of Otsego, Michigan, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013, at her home. Mrs. Holcom was born January 8, 1926 in Tustin, Michigan to Eugene and Martha (Reynolds) Fauble.

Margaret was a devoted homemaker who most enjoyed spending time with her family. In her leisure time she enjoyed watching sports and reading. Over the years John and Margaret spent many happy times camping with family and friends. For the last 33 years she had been a faithful member of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church of Otsego.

On May 7, 1949 in Tustin she married John R. Holcom, who survives. They were blessed with four children, Ronald (deceased) (Kathy) Holcom of Holt, Carol Rose of Plainwell, John (Deb) Holcom of Tifton, GA and Marcia (Dale) Working of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Bush of Warren, MI; several very special nieces and nephews; and extended family, Dick Gary, Cindy Gordon and Jo Ann Winkel.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Edith McClain and Agnes Shagene; and a brother, Elmer Fauble.

Friends may visit with Margaret’s family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. Funeral Services will be held at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Jason Thiel and Pastor Josh Olson officiating. Cremation will follow with burial of ashes at Sherman Township Cemetery, Osceola County.

Raymond Beery

Raymond Beery

Raymond E. Beery of Kalamazoo passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in Kalamazoo. Raymond was born June 30, 1927 in Otsego, the son of Clyde Cortland and Lillie Marie (Harper) Beery. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Navy. He was a member and Past Master of Anchor Masonic Lodge #22, Scottish Rite, Saladin Temple (Shriners) and was a Shrine clown. He was also a member of American Legion #36, Kalamazoo 40/8 Voiture #161 and Past Patron of the Otsego Eastern Star Chapter #497. Ray enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and reading. His work history includes: Beery’s Grocery in Otsego, Coca-Cola, Cadillac Overall Linen Supply, Campbell Fuller Weaver Insurance Agency, 2 Cities Motel, WMU as a groundskeeper and the KVCC Bookstore.

On July 23, 1949 in Kalamazoo, he married Rosemary Blanchard, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Michael (April) Beery of Lawton, Bruce (Diane) Beery of Plainwell, Brian Beery of Kalamazoo; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; one special aunt Beulah; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Harold Beery.

Friends may meet with his family from 5-7 pm Thursday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where a funeral service will be held at 1pm Friday with the Masonic Lodge and Hospice Chaplain Brendan McGroarty officiating. Cremation will follow the service with interment of ashes at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego with private services in the spring.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, the Parkinson’s Foundation or GreatLakesHospiceFoundation.org.

Richard King

Richard King

Richard Lee King, 71, of Otsego, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, February 16th, 2013 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 9th, 1941 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son on Lyle and Vera (Grable) King.

He is survived by his wife Roberta (Quiring) King and children, Katherine (Jeff) Tippett and Amy (David) Nguyen along with 4 grandchildren, 2 sisters, Ruth Baures and Joyce Henderson, and a brother, Robert (Judy) King and several nieces and nephews.

Rich was self-employed for 36 years as a psychologist. He loved Michigan football, hiking in the mountains of Montana and Wyoming and motorcycle trips. He played guitar and loved bluegrass music. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a beloved friend to many.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 24th, 2013, at Otsego United Methodist Church in Otsego, Michigan at 2:00 P.M.

Lucille Minegar

Lucille F. Minegar ‘Lucy’ of Otsego, Michigan, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 in Otsego. Mrs. Minegar was born October 10, 1930 in Orangeville to John and Ruth (Burd) McLaughlin and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Lucy was a devoted homemaker and for several years was employed as an inspector with Shakespeare Co.

Surviving are her son, Dale Minegar; two sisters, Ruby Mottor and Donna, both of Otsego; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Minegar, in 1991; and her brother, Raymond McLaughlin.

A private family service was held at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, with Rev. Mark Minegar officiating. Burial followed in Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego.

Ruth Cottrell

Ruth Cottrell of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 in Kalamazoo. Mrs. Cottrell was born May 15, 1924 in Otter Lake, MI, the daughter of Ernest and Blanche (Burns) West.

Surviving are a son, Richard (Marilyn) Cottrell of Kalamazoo; three grandchildren, Scott Cottrell, Lindsey (Kevin) Hogan and Stephen Hill; a sister, Ada (Bill) Hoard of Otter Lake; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merton Cottrell in 1997; her daughter, Devota Rae Hill in 2009; two brothers and two sisters, Floyd West, Leo West, Doreen Jenkins and Winifred Traver.

The family would like to thank Park Place Assisted Living and Southern Care Hospice for the compassionate care given to Ruth.

Burial in Deerfield Township Cemetery, Otter Lake, has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Hazel M. Pearson of Plainwell, Michigan, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Pearson was born March 2, 1925 in Allegan to Herman and Mayme (Mervzies) Keene and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Hazel was a devoted homemaker. On July 9, 1949 in Otsego she married George Pearson, who survives. Also surviving are her beloved children, Mike (Patricia) Pearson of Otsego, James (Janet) Pearson, Kathleen Loughead, George Pearson, Dave (Jenann) Pearson, all of Plainwell, Lisa (Paul) Pearson of Kalamazoo and Mark Pearson of Plainwell; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, William Keene, Evelyn Truax and Edward Keene; and a daughter-in-law, Kelene Pearson.

Friends may visit with Hazel’s family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Otsego, Rev. Fr. Gordon Greene celebrant. Cremation will follow.

Susan Kay Annis of Otsego, Michigan passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, February 7, 2013. Susan was born November 13, 1953 in Plainwell to Jerry and Neva (Thaxton) Annis. For the last 20 years Susan had been employed by Parker Hannifin in Otsego. In her leisure time she enjoyed riding quads, playing with her dogs, listening to music, target shooting and spending time with her family and friends.

Susan is survived by her daughter, Brandy Annis of Otsego; sister, Sherry (Dan) Collins; brother, Terry Annis and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Susan may be made to the Allegan County Humane Society.

Nancie Brazee

Nancie L. (Rolinski) Brazee of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in Kalamazoo. Nancie was born March 26, 1970 in Traverse City to Donald and Phyllis (Kobylczak) Rolinski.

She earned her Bachelor degree from Michigan State University and for almost 20 years she was employed as an environmental specialist with Pfizer in Kalamazoo. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, flowers, knitting, crocheting and taking photos.

On January 9, 2009 in Plainwell she married Rodney W. Brazee, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Tucker VanDyke and Wyatt VanDyke, both of Kalamazoo; her mother, Phyllis Rolinski of Gaylord; a brother, Kevin (Caron) Rolinski of White Lake; a brother-in-law, Mark (Krista) Brazee of Alamo; and her mother-in-law, Jeanne Brazee of Alamo.

She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Jeffrey Rolinski; and her father-in-law, Leland Brazee.

Friends may visit with Nancie’s family from 2 to 8 P.M. Friday, February 8, 2013 at the Winkel Funeral Home, 207 E. Allegan St., Otsego, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1628 East G Ave., Parchment, Rev. Fr. Wieslaw Lipka celebrant. Cremation will follow.

Dealie F. Walters of Otsego, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Walters was born June 22, 1928 in Beedeville, AR to Charles and Emma (Isbell) Owens.

Dealie was a devoted homemaker and had been employed with the Olympia Restaurant and Hicks Restaurant. In her leisure time she enjoyed visiting the casino, picking blueberries and taking drives with her husband. She loved to shop. For many years she volunteered at Bingo for the V.F.W., where she was a life member of the Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Walters, Sr.; 10 children; 53 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; her parents; and 4 siblings.

Friends may meet with Dealie’s family from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, February 8, 2013, Pastor James Collison officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego.
