Russell “Russ” Button of Plainwell, Michigan went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Russ was born August 22, 1934 in Otsego to Coral and Grace (Chapman) Button and had been a lifelong resident of the area. He had been employed as a process engineer with Parker Hannifin – Brass Division, retiring in 1996 after 36 years. Russ was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hobby trains, garage sales, croquet, his cottage on MinerLake, golf and softball. On June 10, 1989 in Otsego he married Karen Barthel Dobbins, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Randy (Linda) Button of Portage; two step-children, Lauren (Rob) Chase of Allegan and Joshua Dobbins of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Eli, Aaron and Katelyn; two sisters, Lois Chandler of Grand Rapids and Helen (Harry) Waldron of Otsego; many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Barbara Newman Button, in 1983; a brother, Lawrence Button; two sisters, June O’Reilly and Clara Stowell. Friends may meet with his family from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Pastor Joe Shaler officiating. Burial will follow at HillsideCemetery, Plainwell. Contributions in memory of Russ may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
