Robert “Jack” Warner of Otsego, MI, passed away Sunday, September 05, 2010 in Kalamazoo. Jack was born January 12, 1933 in Hastings, MI the son of Hubert and Kathryn (Williams) Warner. He was a Navy veteran, and a member of the Rotary Club – Paul Harris Fellow, the Elks Lodge and Michigan Sports Sages. He was a member of the Pastor/Parish Committee at the OtsegoUnitedMethodistChurch and longtime treasurer of the church, played trumpet in the River Cities Concert Band, at church and Taps for the VFW. Jack was the coach of the 1968 championship OtsegoHigh School basketball team and was the recipient of the Wolverine Conference Distinguished Service Award. He was a teacher and counselor as well as a coach and had served public schools in Wayland and Otsego. His hobbies were golfing, bowling, deer hunting, fishing and family activities with his grandchildren. Also, he owned Warner’s Landing campground in Shelbyville. On June 9, 1959 at the WaylandMethodistChurch, he married the former Ida McCutchan, who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Lisa (Gary) Falkenberg of Estero FL and Susan Warner (Dave Griffin) of Oak Park, IL; and 3 grandchildren, Henry & Pearl Griffin and Kathryn Falkenberg. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Joan Stroup. Friends may meet with the family Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 P.M. at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayland, MI, with Military Honors by V.F.W. Post #3030, Pastor Joe Shaler officiating. A public service celebrating Jack’s life will be held Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at the Otsego United Methodist Church. Memorials may be left to the Otsego United Methodist Church or to Christian Neighbors.
