On June 26, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer Lana Ann Koester of Otsego, Michigan, was escorted by angels to dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Her kitty Goo was at her side. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. On July 26, 1955, in Kalamazoo, Lana was born to Charles and Ione (Alexander) Koester and was a lilfelong resident of the area. For many years she was employed in quality control by Allegan Metal Finishing. Lana loved doing for others and her hobbies included knitting and crocheting. Everything she created was given with love to someone else. She was very active in her church, the Plainwell Assembly of God, where she taught Sunday school classes. Lana leaves behind her foster daughter, Priscilla Carson, and her granddaughter, Isabelle Carson of Plainwell; her brother, Charles ‘Chuck’ and Mary Koester of Otsego, and their children Ron (Whillock) Koester of Otsego and Julie (Mike) Berghorst, both of Allegan; her sister, Benita ‘Bonnie’ (John) Morse of Allegan, and their children, Sheila Long and Michelle (Eric) Oisten, both of Allegan; her sister, Judy Zimmerman of Otsego, who was her caretaker and by her bedside during her final days; two aunts, Wanita Bradshaw of Otsego and Doris (Jim) Brown of Auburn, WA; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may meet the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, Pastor David Alderman officiating. Burial will follow at Hicks Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Lana may be made to Seeds of Grace or Wings of Hope Hospice.
