Gladys A. Brown of Allegan, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010, in Kalamazoo. Mrs. Brown was born June 30, 1924 in Kalamazoo to George and Blanch (Baker) Ball and was a lifelong resident of the area. Together with her husband, she had owned and operated Brown Farm Equipment. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, crocheting and above all else spending time with her family. On October 27, 1945 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Watson she married William ‘Bill’ Brown, and they had celebrated 64 years of marriage. Also surviving are her children, Gary (Deidre) Brown of Kalamazoo, Dolores “Laurie” (Robert) Augustine of Otsego, Beverly (Kenneth) Jacobs of Allegan and Carl Brown of Columbia, SC; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Brown; a granddaughter, Michelle Brown; two grandsons, Douglas Brown and Scott Brown; and 4 brothers. Friends may meet with the family from 5 to 8 P.M. today at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Otsego, Rev. Fr. Donald P. Klingler celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Margaret’s Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Gladys may be made to the VFW National Home for Children.
