Delvin 'Del' Anderson of Otsego, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010, in Kalamazoo. Mr. Anderson was born July 6, 1936 in Ishpeming, Michigan to Arvid and Mimi (Lahde) Anderson. After high school graduation he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his service he graduated from NorthernMichiganUniversity and received his Masters Degree in education. He retired as principal of the Michigan State Technical Institute at PineLake and had over 30 years experience as an administrator with Michigan schools. Del was a thoroughbred horse breeder and raced horses throughout the country. Del ran Sisu Farms, and had the champion thoroughbred racehorse of the year at the Detroit DRC Racetrack. He was an accordion player and formed several polka bands during his lifetime. In 1995 he married the former Linda Travis, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Jan (Cliff) Riva, Pam Anderson and Scott (Amanda) Anderson, all of Florida; 3 step-children, Travis (Marji) Phillips of Ohio, Nicole (Patrick) Armstrong of Florida and Kerry (Vicky) Phillips of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Jessica, Tiffany, Elizabeth, Katie, Parker, Madeline, Brian, Brandon, and Cole; a great-granddaughter, Lilly; his mother, Mimi Anderson; siblings, Kathy (Peter) Ruokola and Gary (Marlene) Anderson; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father. Cremation has taken place. Friends may meet the family from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church, Plainwell, Vicar Kari Fast officiating. A Private family burial of ashes will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego.
