Clyde Walters of Battle Creek (formerly of Otsego and Kalamazoo) passed away quietly Sunday, February 28, 2010 in Battle Creek. Clyde was born September 9, 1917 in Otsego to Henry and Tena Wolters in Otsego. He was a member of the Otsego Methodist Church for over 30 years and of the Parchment United Methodist Church after moving to the Kalamazoo area. He was also a Life member of the Masonic Lodge in Otsego. Clyde loved bird hunting, trout fishing and was a faithful Tigers fan. For 33 years, he was employed with Michigan Cottage Cheese Company and was Vice President and Sales Manager from 1947 to 1969. On October 19, 1938 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Querbach, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons and their wives, Mick and Glenda Walters of Marshall, Dan and Shari Walters of Delton; 7 grandchildren, Scott (Claudia) Walters, Jeff (Kristin) Walters, Alissa (Scott) Deeter, Laura (Craig) Wood, Marci Walters, Danielle (Paul) VanderHoff and Aaron Walters (fiancée Lyndsay Hammond); 12 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; 1 brother and 2 sisters, Ernest (Betty) Wolters of Mt. Pleasant, Hattie Burdick of Allegan, Flossie Wesler of Gobles; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters, Henry Jr., John, Elmer, Russell, Floyd, Mildred Hurlbut and Dorothy Benedict. Friends may meet with his family on Friday beginning 11am with a funeral service to follow at 12 noon at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, with Rev. Dan Minor officiating. Cremation will follow services. Interment of cremated remains will be at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to LifeSpan Good Samaritan Hospice of Battle Creek.
