Shirley F. Syers of Otsego, Michigan, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010, at her home. Shirley was born August 14, 1936 in MontereyTownship, AlleganCounty, to Norman and Alma (Taylor) Miller and was a lifelong resident of the area. For 44 years she was employed with Parker-Hannifin Corp., retiring as a foreman. Shirley was a member of the Women of the Moose. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing Bingo, fishing, hunting, mushrooming and traveling. Surviving are two daughters, Stacey (Syers) Thames of Otsego and Shanon (Syers) Bernier and her husband Byran of Plainwell; four grandchildren, Cody, Patrick, Samantha and Shelbea; one sister, Dixie (Bob) Howrigon; two brothers, Dallas “Butch” Miller of Otsego and Rick Miller of Plainwell; several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Terrance and Melbourn. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, with Funeral Celebrant Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego. Contributions in memory of Shirley may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
