James L. Claflin
James L. Claflin of Plainwell, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 in Plainwell, MI. Mr. Claflin was born March 3, 1941 in South Haven, MI to Kenneth and Eleanor (Dawe) Claflin. In 1963 he received his Bachelor of Science degree from DePauwUniversity where he was a Phi Gamma Delta. Jim then served his country in the U.S. Army. For over 30 years he was employed with Loctite/Henkel where he worked in sales out of Chicago. In his leisure time Jim was an avid golfer, a passionate live music enthusiast and enjoyed woodworking. Surviving are his son, Eric (Melissa) Claflin of Zionsville, IN; his mother, Eleanor H. Claflin of South Haven, MI; a sister, Nancy (Richard) Brinks of South Haven, MI; two sisters-in-law, Trisha (Paul Brown) Grimley-Brown of Kula, Maui and Judy Claflin of Augusta, MI; a niece, Kelly (Jeff) Shemberger, and their children Justin and Jacob, of Battle Creek, MI; a nephew, Tim (Shelly) Claflin, and their children Jace and Ben, of Kalamazoo, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurie (Grimley) Claflin; a daughter, Sarah Jane Claflin; and a brother, William Claflin. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held from 11 A.M. until 12 Noon Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, MI.In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1332 N.
