Dorothy E. Drake

Dorothy passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at Alamo Nursing Home.

She was born July 10, 1947 in Martin, MI the daughter of Ernest and Leva (Camfield) Drake. Dorothy was a 1965 Otsego High School graduate and lifelong resident of the area. She had worked at the drive-in restaurant in Allegan, was manager at Fanny Farmer Candies in Kalamazoo, had owned and operated a small dairy farm for several years and had also worked at K-Mart and Wal-Mart in Otsego. Dorothy enjoyed drawing and sewing, and loved all animals especially dogs and horses.

Surviving are her sisters, Beverly Ransler of Gobles, Marilyn (John) Hiscock and Martha (Harold) Lindsey both of Otsego along with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may visit with Dorothy’s family from 2-4PM and 6-8PM on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 4, 2016 with Pastor Greg Carlson officiating.

Burial will follow at Earl Cemetery in Gobles.

Contributions in memory of Dorothy may be made to the American Cancer Society.

    So sorry to learn of Dorothy’s passing. We both graduated with her and I remember her smile and chatting with her in the classes we shared together. I knew she was dealing with health issues and, as difficult as it is for those left behind, I’d like to think that she is no longer suffering and is at peace.
